“In 2002, I was visiting Peru, where I grew up as a child and teenager.  At the time, I was trying to figure out how I could help Peruvian people with disabilities who often do not have enough money to buy a wheelchair…When I got home I started a web search and very quickly found that Rotary had two major programs: collaborating with the Wheelchair Foundation and eradicating polio worldwide…I found there were three Rotary Clubs on our area and called all three of them to find out what was required to become a member.  Within 60 minutes of leaving a message on a telephone recorder, Lamont Satterly, who was then the Club president, called me back, the first to promptly return my call.  The rest is history.”
